Despite the benefits of resetting your Android tablet, you may want to make a backup of your device to retain the data on it.
However, if you do not wish to make a backup or you already did then you can proceed to the tutorial below.
Note: Following the guide below will be useful if you want to hard reset your Samsung or other Android tablets to factory default.
Performing a regular Factory Data Reset
To wipe out your Tablet the regular way, follow the steps below.
- Launch the Settings app on your phone.
- On the Settings page, scroll down to System and click on it.
- Scroll to Reset options on the System page and tap it.
- From the list of options, click on factory data reset. Selecting this option will completely reset your tablet.
- On the following screen, click on reset phone/tablet to start the wiping process.
Factory Reset Android Tablet without Password
1. Power off the tablet
The very first step is to turn the Android tablet off by pressing on the power button to reveal the power menu, and then swiping on the option to power off the device.
2. Perform a recovery boot
Once the tablet is powered off, the next thing you have to do is hold down the power button and the volume-up for around ten seconds to boot the recovery menu.
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
The recovery menu has a list of options. Use the volume keys to navigate the list.
Scroll to the Wipe data/factory reset option and then click the power button to select it.
On the next screen, you have to confirm by scrolling to the Delete all user data option.
Use the volume keys again to navigate through the options and once you select delete all user data, then press the power button.
Warning: deleting every data will erase the media, app, system, and utility files that are stored on the internal storage of the tablet.
You will lose every file if you did not make a prior device backup.
The tablet will have to take some few minutes to completely reset.
4. Reboot the tablet
Once the factory reset is completed, you should be back on the recovery menu screen.
Select the reboot system now option and tap on the power button to turn on your device.
You will have to set up your tablet just like it is brand new. Therefore, you will be adding a Google account, creating new Settings and adding new profile information on the tablet.

To wipe your device using a computer, you will first have to download the Android multi-tools here, then follow the instructions below to use the software.
