How to Share Photos from iPhone to Computer without iTunes

It is cool to transfer the photos on their iPhone to their Mac or Windows computer. However, some users prefer not to use iTunes for various limitations. If you are one of them, then this tutorial is just for you!

Note: It is possible to transfer images from an iOS device to a computer without using iTunes. You can even downgrade any iOS version without iTunes.

Syncing the photos on your mobile phone to your Mac or Windows device ensures that you have access to your images anytime and anywhere.

Hence, sharing images between your devices can be a beneficial action to take.

By following this tutorial, you should be able to upload photos from your iPhone or iPad to your computer; without using iTunes or jailbreaking your iOS device. The steps in this guide are straightforward and effortless.

1. Download and install Phone Drive lite

Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for Phone Drive lite, or click this link to access the app from a web browser. Once you find the app, download and install it into your device.

Note: There are two versions of Phone drive. The regular app costs $1.99 while the lite version is free. The lite version of Phone Drive is what you should download unless you need to get other tasks done; for instance, cloud unlock.

However, if all you need to do is upload your iPhone photos to a computer, then it is best to stick with the free version of Phone drive.

2. Launch Phone Drive

After the installation is complete, open the Phone drive app on your iPhone.

The next thing you have to do is tap on the “sync icon” at the bottom of the screen.

Doing so will open a pop-menu. On that menu, select and click on the Mac/PC file transfer option.

3. Connect your iPhone to the Computer

This step is crucial. Make sure your iPhone and Computer is connected to the same wireless network.

Upon selecting the Mac/PC transfer option, you will get an IP address. Launch a web browser on your Mac or Windows and input the IP address into the URL field. Wait for a few seconds for the connection to activate.

4. Upload the Pictures

Head back to the home screen of Phone drive, then tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen. From the list of options, select Library.

On the library page, select every image you want to upload to your computer and then click on the upload button at the bottom of the screen.

5. Download and save the images to your Computer

After importing the photos from your iOS device, reload the web page on your PC to reveal the pictures you transferred.

The next thing you have to do is click on the select all button at the top of the screen and then tap on the download button that is right next to it.

Depending on the number of shared photos at a time, you may have to wait for some few seconds or minutes for the download to complete.

Note: Some users complained about app crashes. To prevent that from happening, upload a definite number of pictures per session; the right amount of upload is ten (10).

Open the download history on the web browser to view the photos.

You can also open the file location on your computer to see the full list of shared pictures.
